Ian’s Bio
DJ Ian Ford is a DJ/Producer/Remixer who’s current residency is Splash NYC. You’ll experience his work at his Vicious Sundays Party, and often in rotation on Friday Nights. Ian showcases a vast arsenal of floor-filling dance tracks, with current pop and edgy remixes on Fridays while Vicious Sundays kick off with retro 80′s and disco, and end up with cutting edge Vocal Trance, Deep House and Electro.
Ian gets his kicks from analyzing a crowd to get everyone’s head. He has a way of leading a dance floor through a broad spectrum of musical styles and genres, and with this he entertains at raves, house parties, rock concerts – all the while blasting good music from the edge. He steers toward driving electronic dance music but he isn’t limited to one style.
Ian’s New York City experience began at two small venues, The Bar and The Vault. A few months later he was given a guest appearance at Webster Hall, which became a residency for about four years. He played every room at certain points, entertaining the crowds with everything from House and Techno to Rock and Disco. He always manages to have an underground flavor, with well-timed surprises thrown in for good measure.
In March of 1997 Ian took over the main floor of The Bank, which became a legendary New York underground music venue. In the two plus years at The Bank, the weekly crowds doubled, swelling to near and sometimes over capacity. The Bank was sold, and the party moved to Downtime and remained a legendary fixture until Fall of 2006. This party was voted NYC’s best club night twice, and runner up twice again.
During his simultaneous employment at Webster Hall and The Bank, Ian also managed to throw his own parties, Electra-City, for three years at The Pyramid. His love of the craft continually finds him working with amazing artists, including:
Hex Hector, Frankie Knuckles, Jes, Yinon Yahel, Ladt Bunny, Jellybean, Frenchie, Junior Vasquez, George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars, Shannon, Apoptygma Berzerk, Tiffany, Boy George, Cyndi Lauper, Expose, Martha Wash, Amber, The Henry Rollins Band, DJ X-Dream, The Cruxshadows, VNV Nation, Wolfsheim, Danzig, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and more.
Ian works regularly with Broadway Bares, a long running charity organization which raises more than a million dollars annually. He played for Amnesty International’s event featuring Patrick Stewart, Bill Clinton’s 1996 Campaign Kick-Off, the Internet Awards, several high- profile fashion shows and Comedy Central Events. Every year Ian headlines the NewYork City Witches Ball, and as resident at Club 2686 (formerly Luxe) his performance was broadcast live on WLIR FM for two years.
